There are many reasons one might avoid getting in the water at the beach, but among the most common is the fear of sharks. One of the most recent shark-related incidents in North Carolina happened when fire officials responded to a reports of a shark bite on a swimmer at Sunset Beach on Wednesday, May 28, WSOC reported.

Standing up, I felt something bite down on my calf-shin region, just bite down on my leg,” the swimmer reportedly said.

The Sunset Beach Fire Department said it received the emergency call around 11:05 a.m., reporting a swimmer who sustained a leg injury off Sunset Beach.
