New York City’s police department is cracking down on high-speed chases after finding that about one-quarter of more than 2,200 initiated last year led to a collision, property damage, physical harm or death.

A man is wanted after he started four fires in lower Manhattan in slightly over two hours last week, and police released surveillance footage of the suspect on Wednesday to aid their investigation.

Police are searching for an unidentified man accused of setting multiple fires across the city last week, including inside two subway stations and a police car. The NYPD said the man set a police car on fire shortly after 2 a.
