According to the Prince William County Police Department, officers were called to the area of Garza Way and Potomac Mall Circle around 2:45 p.m. after someone said they had spotted a person connected to a brandishing incident that had happened earlier that day.

Prince William County police officers shot and killed a wanted man in Woodbridge Thursday following an hours-long standoff with law enforcement. At approximately 2:45 p.m. Thursday, officers located a man in the area of Garza Way and Potomac Mill Circle in Woodbridge who was wanted in connection with a Wednesday brandishing incident,

PWCPD said officers tried to negotiate with him for hours to peacefully surrender. At one point, officers surrounded his car to take him into custody. The suspect got out of the car and then started running towards the mall. He was armed with a crossbow, and PWCPD said officers shot and killed him.
