Splatoon was completely absent from the Switch 2 launch. Now we know why. Nintendo decided to hold the Switch 2 upgrade for Splatoon 3 until the week after the new console arrived, announcing it Tuesday morning alongside an entirely new spin-off called Splatoon Raiders.

First up, a spinoff game called Splatoon Raiders is in the works for the Switch 2, though there aren’t a lot of details. The new game will take players to an area known as the Spirhalite Islands, investigating some kind of mystery alongside the fictional pop group Deep Cut.

So much so, in fact, that the series' first spinoff, Splatoon Raiders, was just announced today. It's on the way in addition to a free Splatoon 3 content update for Switch 2 owners as well.
