University of South Carolina students were told to shelter in place Sunday after an unconfirmed report of an active shooter on the main campus.

Two minutes after the initial USC warning, another Carolina Alert told people that the “active shooter” was at Thomas Cooper Library in Columbia.

The University of South Carolina says there is an active shooter on campus, according to an alert from USC’s emergency notification system. The shooter was reported a little after 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Thomas Cooper Library and is being described as a six-foot white man with black pants.
