San Francisco — A federal court hearing is scheduled for Thursday on whether the Trump administration can use the National Guard and Marines to assist with immigration raids in Los Angeles.

Dozens of mayors from across the Los Angeles region banded together Wednesday to demand that the Trump administration stop the stepped-up immigration raids that have spread fear across their cities and sparked protests across the U.

California Governor Gavin Newsom has filed an emergency request in federal court to block the Trump administration from deploying National Guard troops and US.Marines in Los Angeles. Newsom argues that sending military forces onto city streets is unconstitutional.
