Cleveland Browns draft pick Shedeur Sanders knows there will be few guarantees as he joins a crowded quarterback room. In his conference call with reporters Saturday, Sanders kept it broad in terms of his expectations at rookie minicamp.

ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr. got downright weird ― or weirder, in his mostly likable way ― as Sanders slid past the Steelers at No. 21, then the Giants at No. 25 (after they traded back into the first round for Mississippi quarterback Jaxson Dart), and all the way to Friday’s Day 2 of the draft.

On Friday night, during a live-stream event hosted by Sanders, he got a call to a private phone number he set up and gave to only NFL personnel. The person on the other line claimed to be New Orleans Saints general manager Mickey Loomis and informed Sanders that the Saints would be taking him with their next pick.
