According to The Hollywood Reporter, Taika Waititi ( What We Do in the Shadows, Thor: Ragnarok, Jojo Rabbit) is preparing to take on another cherished comic book IP as he teams up with screenwriter Drew Pearce ( Iron Man 3, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation) to bring another adaptation of Judge Dredd to the big screen.

Thor: Ragnarok and Jojo Rabbit director Taika Waititi is reportedly attached to direct a new Judge Dredd movie. Information on a Judge Dredd revival comes from THR, which says the Oscar winner will develop the film with the hopes that it could spawn additional movies and shows should it perform.

The character made his big-screen debut in 1995’s big-budget flop “Judge Dredd,” starring Sylvester Stallone. Judge Dredd appeared again in 2012’s Karl Urban-led reboot, “Dredd,” which also misfired at the box office despite decent reviews. He has also appeared in multiple video game adaptations.
