Earlier in the session, it looked like the industry might be spared. After the Senate passed its version of a THC ban in March, the House committee led by King swapped it out for their own version that would limit synthetic and high-potency products but allow specialty hemp stores to continue operations, with pricier licenses and fees.

Lawmakers in Texas are on the verge of successfully banning all THC products, cracking down on a multibillion-dollar industry and delivering a major blow to thousands of businesses across the state that have begun operating in recent years.
