Russia launched on Sunday its largest drone attack on Ukraine since the start of the war, destroying homes and killing at least one woman a day before U.S. President Donald Trump is due to discuss a proposed ceasefire with Russia's Vladimir Putin.

As Russia and Ukraine hold their first direct talks in years, Trump says there won't be a real breakthrough to end the war until he sits down with Putin.

President Donald Trump said Saturday that he plans to speak with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and NATO leaders in separate phone calls on Monday to try to arrange a ceasefire in the war in Ukraine.
