Local leaders held a unity walk inside a South Sacramento shopping plaza Sunday evening to tell the community that the area's shops are safe to visit.

A team of 16 graduate students and staff members from the University of Massachusetts communication disorders department has already raised $1,610 to support Parkinson’s research.

“The Parkinson’s Unity Walk is the largest grassroots event in this country for Parkinson’s research,” explained Carol Walton, CEO of the Parkinson Alliance.
