Sidney Crosby had a goal and two assists to move into ninth on the NHL’s career scoring list as the Pittsburgh Penguins beat Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers 5-3.

EDMONTON -- Connor McDavid scored the only goal on his 28th birthday, and Stuart Skinner made 30 saves for the Edmonton Oilers in a 1-0 win against the Los Angeles Kings at Rogers Place on Monday. It was McDavid’s 72nd game-winning goal, tying Glenn Anderson for the most in franchise history.

With the likes of Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, the Edmonton Oilers have possessed plenty of top-six centre talent for nearly a full decade now.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (17-17-8) have taken a left turn and are headed sideways following the NHL holiday break. The team has earned points in three straight games but won none and they have just one win in seven games (1-3-3).
