Stuart Skinner left the ice following the Edmonton Oilers’ morning skate on Friday, took off his goalie pads, the top half of his equipment and with sweat dripping off his head, held court with the media for roughly 15 minutes.

The Edmonton Oilers kicked off the 2025 Stanley Cup Final in style with a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory in Game 1 over the Florida Panthers. After taking an early lead, they quickly surrendered three straight goals.

It’s not nearly as urgent as it seemed when he first went down with a lower-body injury six games ago, but Calvin Pickard could be ready to go for Game 4. Stuart Skinner still gets the start in net after three shutouts and a 33-save, first-star performance in his last five games, but adding Pickard back to the mix is a comforting layer of security.
