The Los Angeles Lakers pulled off one of the NBA's most stunning trades, acquiring Luka Dončić from the Dallas Mavericks this past season, signaling a significant shift away from LeBron James as their centerpiece star.

NBA free agency officially kicked off on Monday evening as the negotiating window opened for eligible players and all teams across the league at 6 p.m. ET. Monday night was relatively quiet, but the first stunners of the new league year came Tuesday morning.

The Dallas Mavericks were instantly brought up as a team who could be interested in LeBron James, given that they have two of his greatest co-stars of all time in Anthony Davis and Kyrie Irving.
