Jack White, Metallica, Rob Zombie, Elton John and more paid tribute to Ozzy Osbourne after the Black Sabbath frontman died at 76 on Tuesday morning. Osbourne had been recovering from several spinal surgeries as well as his ongoing battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Two weeks before his death on Tuesday, Osbourne took part in Black Sabbath’s farewell show on July 5. He performed his final show with his bandmates — Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Bill Ward — at the Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, England, where the band was formed in the late ’60s.
Osbourne pioneered heavy metal with Black Sabbath before going on to have huge success in his own right. He was known for hits including Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs, Crazy Train and Changes, both with the band and as a solo star.
The heavy metal singer, who died July 22, was renowned for once biting the head off a real bat. Unlike another incident with a dove, this was an accident, he said.
