Parts of New Mexico have experienced unprecedented and deadly flash flooding over the last few days, causing major damage. At least three people, including two children, were killed in Ruidoso.

The children, ages four and seven, were swept downstream by a flash flood after the Rio Ruidoso river rose to a record-setting 20 feet.

July 9 (UPI) -- Three people have died in a flash flood in New Mexico, including two children, city officials announced. The floods happened Tuesday afternoon in the village Ruidoso, N.M., of 7,600 people, which is situated in the Sierra Blanca mountain range.
