Within the past several days over the 4th of July weekend, numerous shark sightings along New York beaches have kept swimmers temporarily out of the water. Officials say they have been monitoring the waters for sharks, including a stretch of Rockaway Beach in Queens.

Another shark sighting temporarily closed Rockaway Beach on Monday afternoon, officials said. NYPD drones captured the shark near Beach 120th Street just after 1 p.m., according to a spokesperson for the NYC Parks Department.

The popular Rockaway Beach in Queens was briefly shuttered for a period of time on Friday and Saturday due to shark sightings.
