Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy’s wife Kiley showed fans that she isn’t going to let pregnancy slow her down.

Kicking off a busy end-of-January stretch for both teams, the Ottawa Senators host the Boston Bruins in a key Saturday afternoon clash of clubs on the Eastern Conference playoff bubble.

Coyle will start the game on the third line on the wing with Matt Poitras, who returns at center and Trent Frederic. Vinni Lettieri will play his first game in Boston this season in Coyle’s regular spot with Elias Lindholm and Brad Marchand. Oliver Wahlstrom will sit out with Coyle available.

Boston Bruins forward Mark Kastelic was on the ice again yesterday but isn’t ready to play just yet. Joe Haggerty: Bruins defenseman Hampus Lindholm was skating on his own for the second consecutive day.

The Boston Bruins made a series of roster transactions on Tuesday, including placing defenseman Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve and calling up center Matt Poitras from AHL Providence.

The most noteworthy among those was putting Charlie McAvoy on injured reserve leaving their already thin defense significantly thinner. They also put Mark Kastelic on injured reserve and moved Hampus Lindholm to long term injured reserve. The Bruins summoned Matt Poitras and Michael Callahan from Providence.

McAvoy will sit out the next two games, starting with Tuesday's matchup versus Tampa Bay, due to a nagging injury. He has produced five goals, 20 points, 86 shots on net, 77 blocked shots and 86 hits across 45 appearances this season. Parker Wotherspoon will replace McAvoy in Tuesday's lineup.

Each year, the top forty-five American NHL draft-eligible hockey players face off in the All-American Game. Key participants this year include Jack Murtagh and William Moore, both recently named top-32 prospects on NHL Central Scouting’s midterm rankings.

The other moves related to injury classifications, with franchise defenseman Charlie McAvoy surprisingly placed on the injured reserve list.

The Boston Bruins had good news and bad news this morning at practice at Warrior Ice Arena. Forward Mark Kastelic was back at practice in a non-contact red jersey.

Among goalies born in Canada, Logan Thompson of the Washington Capitals leads the NHL wins (20). He and Darcy Kuemper of the Los Angeles Kings are tied for the lead in save percentage (.924), and Mackenzie Blackwood, now with the Avalanche, is second (.918).
