Italy's Federica Brignone completed a women's World Cup giant slalom double in Sestriere on Saturday as U.S. ski great Mikaela Shiffrin failed to make the cut in the discipline for the first time since 2012.

American skier Mikaela Shiffrin placed outside of the women's giant slalom top 30, while Federica Brignone made it back-to-back wins on home snow Saturday in Sestriere, Italy.

Italian skier Federica Brignone won the first World Cup giant slalom after taking gold at the world championships on Friday, while Mikaela Shiffrin finished 25th in the American’s first race in the discipline in nearly 12 weeks.
