A military court put former President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Joseph Kabila, on trial for treason on Friday.

Former Democratic Republic of Congo president Joseph Kabila went on trial in absentia Friday on charges including treason over his alleged support for Rwanda-backed militants.

More than 40 people have been killed in an attack by an affiliate of the so-called Islamic State in the DRC’s northeastern Ituri province, the United Nations peacekeeping force MONUSCO said on Sunday.
