In fact, two such subframes were designed; one for the long-bed model, which appeared first, and a second, shorter version for the short-bed, which debuted for 1987.

Apr 20, 2002 · I've owned 4 Jeep Commanches and I've loved every single one. We have a gray 1986 with a 2.8L V6, a black 1988 Sportruck Commanche with a 4.0L staight 6 coupled with a 5 speed tranny, a red 1990 Pioneer with a 4.0L and the classic Jeep five-spokes (I love the looks of this truck), and finally, a blue 1992 Commanche with a 4.0L.
