Aug 19, 2011 · The funniest story I have ever heard in racing was when former Winston Cup director Dick Beaty and Buck were returning from a motorcycle race at Strawberry Hiil to Charlotte in the 50s. They had a wreck in South Boston and Dick's nose was cut off.

They would arrive just in time to race the Connsi and make in in the feature! Almost a 4 and half hours Norwood to Utica-Rome!

Another wealthy man with grand visions would later build the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the annual Indy 500. A race that the French and Italians would be successful in it's earlier years.

Jan 18, 2025 · A new product shouldn't fail like that if installation and operation was correct. Sounds to me like a fault with the bracket. Have you contacted Speedway and/or Offenhauser about the problem? That should maybe have been the first thing done, possibly before throwing it out here on the HAMB.

Apr 7, 2010 · A friend of a friend had a couple albums of old stock car racing photos that I was able to copy. Most, if not all of the shots, are from the old Fort Wayne Speedway in northern Indiana. I vaguely remember going to the track maybe once in the early to mid '60s to see a demo derby and then the place was torn down not too many years later.

I would be willing to bet that more '63-'64 Galaxies were sold in Virginia, Tennessee, the Carolinas, Georgia and Florida than anywhere else in the country.
