Today in The Three Stooges history, July 6 1933, Nertsery Rhymes was released starring Ted Healy and his very young Stooges. The Stooges play Ted Healy's children, and they're giving him a hard time about going to sleep. He tries singing them to sleep, but to no avail. The team's first musical comedy, and the first of two experimental 2-strip Technicolor shorts they made with MGM were billed as Colortone Musical Revues. Some of our favorite Stooge moments are in today's short, "Hold That Lion," released #OnThisDay in 1947. This was the only time in Stooge history that the three Horwitz brothers (Moe, Shemp, and Curly) appeared in a short together. Director, Jules White, recalled later that Curly just happened to be visiting the set, and waved at White from behind a newspaper.
